Dakota Fanning has been set to play the lead role in an indie coming of age drama that will be the English language debut of Mexican director Gerardo Naranjo, according to Deadline. In the untitled film, Fanning will play Viena, “a roadie who’s on a journey of self-discovery and survival as part of a punk band’s convoy, traveling through America circa the 1980s.” Filming is set to begin February.
Fanning, a household names at the tender age of 19 with 50 credits to her name, recently wrapped up indie drama “Franny” opposite Richard Gere and “Divergent” star Theo James. She can currently be seen opposite Emile Hirsch in 2012 Rom Film Festival winner “The Motel Life” and next has eco thriller “Night Moves” with Jesse Eisenberg coming out. Errol Flynn biopic “The Last of Robin Hood” and crime drama “Every Secret Thing” are also complete and awaiting release.
