Stephen Frears’ already-filming, still-untitled Lance Armstrong biopic has added “The Hobbbit” star Lee Pace to its cast, reports The Wrap. Ben Foster stars as the disgraced former Tour de France winner (and the resemblance is uncanny), with Chris O’Dowd as the journalist who supported him, then ultimately brought about his downfall. Jesse Plemons and Guillaume Canet have supporting roles, while Pace’s role is unspecified as well.
Pace, who has something of a cult following thanks to roles in short-lived but beloved TV series “Pushing Daisies” and “Wonderfalls,” had a busy year last year on the big screen with roles in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn”, “The Hobbit” and “Lincoln.” He’ll soon be seen in sequel “The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug” as well as Marvel Phase 2 blockbuster “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and he also recently filmed AMC pilot “Halt and Catch Fire” with fellow buzzy rising movie stars Scoot McNairy, Mackenzie Davis and Kerry Bishe, which will air on AMC in 2014.
