Robert Pattinson Confirms Role in Olivier Assayas’‘Idol’s Eye’

Robert Pattinson, 28, has landed a role in Olivier Assayas‘ gangster film “Idol’s Eye.”

Although news of the casting was first revealed by Assayas via Les InRocks last week, Pattinson confirmed his involvement in an interview with La Nouvel Observateur whilst at the Cannes International Film Festival earlier this week.

“It’s a true story about this guy — thieves who rob a porn store without realizing it’s a mafia front place in the late ’70s,” says Pattinson of the film, which he is set to begin working on in November. “The script’s amazing. I just finished reading the script of it — It’s really incredible.”

Pattinson, best known for the “Twlight” franchise, will next be seen in David Michôd’s “The Rover” alongside Guy Pearce and reunites with “Cosmopolis” director David Cronenberg for “Maps to the Stars.” Both recently premiered at Cannes. His other upcoming films also include Werner Herzog’s “Queen of the Desert,” James Gray’s “The Lost City of Z,” Anton Corbijn’s “Life” and Brady Corbet’s directorial debut “The Childhood of a Leader.”
